This cosmetic bag made of aluminum can tabs appeals to my crafty side. A reasonable price for the handywork too. They also offer a handbag. Thanks for the tip, Laura!

Chain Mail Lariat
This stainless steel lariat wins points for versatility. I’d wear it flapper-style with a loose knit-dress or a tunic top, but you could also wear it as a belt, a choker, or a bracelet Thanks to Freddy for the tip!

Curiosa
I posted about this book on the ReadyMade blog a couple weeks ago and realized that I’d never mentioned it here. It’s one of my favorite gifts for thinkie types. Here’s what I said: Curiosa has me spellbound. If you were the type of kid who saved special pebbles, scraps of paper, or important leaves, Barton Lidice Benes’s book of “obsessive assemblages” will hook you.
I couldn’t skip a single item-the communion wafer from JFK’s funeral, a bit of mummy dust, jelly beans from Ronald Reagan’s desk, Roy Rogers’s nasal douche. Item by item, the artist explores our acquisition instinct by grouping small, fascinating objects in illuminating ways. Something about this book satisfies the part of you that wants to be remembered with love. So ispiring. -

Playmobil Blue Ambulance
This is my friend Hudson’s favorite toy. Hudson is five, and this ambulance is his favorite because: “It’s cool, and it comes with lots of rescue things inside. And there’s a light on the top. And there’s all sorts of people. And the ambulance has lots of suitcases where you carry all the stuff to make you feel better and get better. And there’s one thing else I want to say, OK? It’s also very nice.”

Hostess Twinkies Non-Stick Baking Pan
You’re craving Twinkies, but you don’t remember them tasting quite so much like formaldehyde when you were a kid. This Twinkie kit lets you make homemade treats with buttery cake and real whipped cream. Because what the world really needs is a way to make Twinkies more delicious. (via Not Martha)

Cut-N-Seal
This device seals in the peanut butter and jelly and makes an attractive, sofa-safe pocket sandwich for your kids. Way cooler than using the top of a glass.

Tivoli Audio Fashion PAL Portable Audio Laboratory
My friend Josh A. Cagan gives a big thumbs up to this portable radio, which he also uses to play his iPod. He says it packs easily, is rechargeable and has a long-lasting battery, has great sound quality for a single speaker unit, is cool lookin’, and comes in fun fashion colors. Josh is not as excited about the fun fashion colors as I am. His is black, because he’s understated like that.

Two Five Green Croc Retro Train Case
Can this witty little case balance the indignity of having strangers pawing through your carry-on? It can if you remember to check your vibrator. This mini-trunk tucks right under your airplane seat and suggests that you’re far too civilized to attack the pilot.

Sheer Jersey Scarf
OK, so these scarves aren’t exactly a state secret, but my black scarf has become one of my favorite things. These scarves are long, extra soft, and they work with dressy or casual outfits. They also come in nearly thirty colors. They’re not bulky, so they pack up great, and you can tuck one in your oversized purse in case the evening turns chilly. Also, they’re an excellent random gift to keep on hand for unexpected birthdays. Not bad for $15.
