  • Method Cleaning Products

    Method-cleaning-products

Rarely does a company manage to combine everything I care about - good design, reasonable price, functionality, and earth-friendly materials - into its product line. Those elements are some of Method’s guiding principles for its line of cleaning and body products. Pictured here is their attractive and useful Aroma Pill air sanitizer, but I also love their yummy almond-scented wood polish, and their elegantly packaged cucumber hand wash and dish soap. You really can’t go wrong.

  • Antiques of the Future

    Antiques-of-the-future

In the ’80s Lisa Roberts started collecting items that she believed would be of value in the coming years. Then she made a glossy, full-color book highlighting her collection, thereby greatly stacking the odds that her collection will increase in value. I’m playing right into her hands. Future Antiques is one woman’s take on the objects that are defining our time. From toilet brushes to tape dispensers, never has a book made me so nostalgic for the life I’m currently living. A good bet for the design addict on your list.

  • Pink Striped Ribbon Belt

    Pink-striped-ribbon-belt

Sheila Sheffler de la Cruz wrote in to say: “I just bought a great and very styley product for my almost-3-year-old twins. They’re called Myself Belts and they are quite amazing. I got the Beep Beep for my son and pink ribbon for my daughter and they love them, and can actually use them themselves for easy potty-ing once Daddy or I first install them in the morning. I had been frustrated at trying to find pants that fit just right, especially for my tall and skinny son, and the belts available in most stores either drooped down (slide close) or were impossible for him (buckle close). This is just the ticket.” I agree. You just snap one end on through a belt buckle loop, and your kids fasten and unfasten the belts using a Velcro closure. Clever.

  • MiniCards

    Minicards

I just ordered a batch of these, and I can’t wait for them to arrive. If you use Flickr to store and share your photos, Moo has made it incredibly easy to make slim, lovely cards out of your snapshots. You can add text to the back to make them into business cards, but I left mine blank so I could use them as gift tags, miniature love notes, or social cards. Yum.

  • Feathers

    Feathers

This is a little vinyl pouch with stitching on the front and back. I didn’t think I’d use it all that much at first, but I take it everywhere. I use it to store my favorite lipsticks and transfer it from purse to purse whenever I leave the house. Even if this particular pouch isn’t your speed, a little catch-all bag is surprisingly useful.
