Single Track World

If you’ve still got a full face helmet you want to carry from time to time, but don’t need to carry too much other kit, this pack will do the job and give you the reassurance of a back protector.

For those who can live without that extra feeling, the protection plate can easily be removed, reducing the 1.540 g overall weight of the Attack by a reasonable 340 grams. The high-quality construction and impressive durability of Deuter products justify the slightly higher price tag of € 179.

If you’re a regular visitor to the Alps or a fan of multi-day riding adventures and like the idea of a cavernous capacity and in-built back protection, the Attack is worth a look, but bear in mind that the substantial price tag doesn’t include a bladder.

There aren't too many backpacks on the market that offer as much back protection as this. And by protection we mean protection in the armour-plated sense, ideal for freeride biased riders but thoroughly sensible for others too.
