What kind of makeup bag do you have?

I have too many makeup bags to count but I have two particular favourites! One is from Oliver Bonas and has a nice monogrammed ‘S’ on the front. I absolutely love this bag as it’s the perfect shape and size for my odds bits and bobs and tends to be in my handbag at all times. It’s definitely my “makeup on the go” option.

My second makeup bag is much bigger and is just a large pouch that came with a Zoeva brush set. It’s perfect for holidays as it can fit so much including brushes which are normally too long for makeup bags.

How do you pack and organize things in your makeup bag?

If I’m honest I’m a bit messy with my makeup bags, everything tends to get chucked in on one end and then when I unpack it I just tip it all out onto my bed to get working!

I am quite a light packer though so I only bring things I really need. My top tip for makeup packing is definitely to do it whilst you’re doing your makeup in the morning. This way I’m just following my everyday makeup routine and know I haven’t missed anything out by accident. I’ll then throw in a few extra holiday lipsticks and highlighters to transform m y everyday routine to holiday mode!

How would you design the ultimate makeup bag?

I would definitely love a makeup bag that has different sections which still stays in that pouch shape that I tend to go for. This way I could divide my makeup into face products, lipsticks and eye products really easily. I love Liberty prints so something in a pretty pattern like this on the outside would be gorgeous, but with waterproof and easy to clean lining so it doesn’t get damaged on the inside!

What kind of makeup bag do you have?

I’m currently using the Soap & Glory The Glam On The Go Makeup Bag. It’s a great size for holding all of my handbag essentials without being too big that I end up overfilling it and making it ridiculously heavy. It’s a pretty metallic pink colour with glitter stars and the zip opens nice and wide so I can find the product I’m looking for without having to spend ages digging around. It’s only £10/$13 and I’d definitely recommend it!

How do you pack and organize things in your makeup bag?

I always like to carry around a full face of makeup so a foundation, concealer, mascara, eyeliner, powder, blush/bronzer, lipliner and lip colour. By sticking to a full face of products it tends to stop me overpacking with 15 different lip colours, but I like to rotate the products within the bag on a weekly basis to mix things up. One makeup bag essential has to be the DHC Olive Oil Cotton Swabs as they’re pre-soaked cotton buds individually wrapped, which work amazingly at removing any makeup mistakes or smudges and they take up no room in the bag either.

How would you design the ultimate makeup bag?

I’d love to find a makeup bag which has separate compartments, almost like you get with handbags with the bag being divided into two? I’d love to have my face products on one size, and my eye products on another. Plus a section for makeup brushes, but I guess the separate sections would make the bag pretty big! Soap & Glory do such fab makeup bags as they’re affordable but they’re well made, and they’re not boring/plain either.

What kind of makeup bag do you have?

I use a very inexpensive Flamingo printed makeup bag that I bought at SuperTarget for less than $5! It holds the essentials and fits into my medium to large sized bags perfectly.

How do you pack and organize things in your makeup bag?

I admit its a mess! Everything is thrown in- usually two or three lip glosses, a lip balm, eyeliner, brush, and blush and blotting powder. I always tuck a few band-aids and hair ties too.

If I am traveling then I use a large makeup bag with a place for everything. I still end up throwing random things in there…multiple lipsticks and glosses, eyeliner pencils, liquid liner, tweezers, and all of my skincare. I think my makeup bag weighs as much as a suitcase when I’m done packing!

How would you design the ultimate makeup bag?

My dream bag would probably be made from something like hemp, natural and durable as well as earth friendly. It would have a small compartment for little tubes of gloss, a slender pocket for eyeliner and tweezers, maybe a spot for a tiny bottle of essential oil to calm anxiety throughout the day!

There would be a zippered top so nothing falls out and maybe an outside pocket too. It would be fun to design the bag myself! Or I’d love to work with someone like Josh Rosebrook who is an amazing force in the green beauty world.

What kind of makeup bag do you have?

I own a million makeup bags (usually promotional ones from brands) but generally use my LeSportsac ones. They’re lightweight and you can wash them which is a huge perk. Plus they come in a lot of different sizes and fun patterns. I like the cases that come in the bigger bags they sell. I’m not sure why they don’t sell them separately (you literally need to buy one of their weekenders to get the matching case. Ironically that’s my favorite style (even over the classic makeup cases they sell individually) because they lay flat, are easy to pack and fit ziplock bags in them, which is great for anyone that travels.

How do you pack and organize things in your makeup bag?

It’s an organized mess. I have one master makeup case filled with my staples as well as any new products I’m trying and I’ll pull from that bag into a smaller makeup case based on what I need for the day. If I’m traveling I usually have one makeup case and one skincare case.

How would you design the ultimate makeup bag?

What I like about my LeSportsac cases are that they are light and also you can wash them. Two big perks as I tend to go for more practical cases (although I also love their fun patterns) over ones that are pretty because I know I can be rough on my cases. But in general I’d love a detachable liner that can be washed or replaced because I hate when my cases get makeup on them and the inside looks yucky. It Cosmetics made one a few seasons ago that was a sparkly PVC type fabrics and it was easy to sponge off anything that got on the surface and looked great no matter how much I used it. So basically, I want something light that can hold a decent amount of makeup (or available in 2-3 sizes depending my bag choice for the day), that’s easy to clean or still looks great even when I’m literally beating it and spilling makeup all over it and in a fabric that wicks off product instead of absorbs it.

What kind of makeup bag do you have?

I have a Mon Purse large leather makeup case. Its personalised which I love and it’s made from incredibly soft leather. I love that I can just wipe it down. You can also get it in a range of colours. Highly recommended!

How do you pack and organize things in your makeup bag?

It’s a complete mess, I just throw everything in and zip it up! I also pack the essentials and try not to pack too much! I can’t live without bronzer, concealer, tinted moisturiser, mascara and lip balm.

How would you design the ultimate makeup bag?

I would prefer if makeup bags were a bit more pliable/flexible so they could fit in my suitcase better. It would also be great if the inside was made of a material that didnt stain and could easily be wiped clean. I also hate heavy makeup bags, so a lighter design would be great!

What kind of makeup bag do you have?

I have a few different bags but the one I use for travel is the Zuca Utility Pouch (large). It’s made from nylon with a clear vinyl lid so you can easily see what’s inside. It’s easy to clean and fly with it. I normally pack this in my carry-on bag or my backpack. It’s easy to pull out for the TSA screening and sturdy for travel. If I’m traveling light, I only pack this bag. If I’m traveling with a full kit, I pack 2 or 3 other bags.

How do you pack and organize things in your makeup bag?

I organize my makeup typically by use in my makeup bags. In my Zuca bag, I put my eyeshadow palettes or eyeshadow singles, highlighter, blushes, lipsticks, lip pencils, eyeliners and mascara. In my secondary bag I put my primers, foundations and setting sprays. Skincare goes in another Zuca bag. I have a separate brush case by Urban Decay for my makeup brushes so that they’re protected.

How would you design the ultimate makeup bag?

I would love a makeup bag with a secure brush case attached to it. I need separate compartments for my primers & foundations, my lip pencils and lipsticks, as well as the rest of my makeup. I’d love for it to be sturdy, as well as black and purple.

What kind of makeup bag do you have?

I am a minimalist when it comes to carrying my beauty essentials. I mainly have two bags: One for skin care and one for makeup products. For my skin care, I am currently using this cute travel pouch bag that I bought from Forever 21. For a weekend getaway, I normally bring the basics like my facial wash, toner, and moisturizers, I also bring cotton pads and facial wipes – they all fit there as I avoid bringing full-sized bottles .

For my makeup, I am using a slick, handy cosmetic bag that I got a long time ago from a local beauty brand called, Ellena Mineral Cosmetics. Color is black. It has four compartments that can fit my lipsticks, primer, foundation, travel-sized eye shadow palette, eyeliners, etc. I even can squeeze in tools like a couple of my makeup brushes. The only thing I hate about it is it becomes quite heavy when I store a lot of items inside but overall I would definitely recommend this to everyone.

How do you pack and organize things in your makeup bag?

I organize my beauty items by their roles and in order. Like, my skin care should be in one bag so when I go to some restroom of a hotel, I just grab this skin care bag and do my thing. By doing this, I don’t need to go back and forth to our bedroom and look for things.

Same with my makeup, since my main makeup bag has four compartments, the first compartment should include my primer, foundation, and concealer — these three basics should always be together no matter what. Second compartment should contain powders. And lipstick on to the third compartment, and so on. I hope you get the idea. I also tend to get confused especially when I am not in my own dressing room so I really set aside the idea of putting my beauty products everywhere. That would be a night mare and will definitely consume my time.

I think I pack too much because there are a lot of moments that I really don’t need this particular item but I just had to bring it for some emergencies like I need to bring two red lipsticks. heh. Or I don’t feel like putting on makeup that day and I just want to show my bare-faced in public. Maybe it’s a girl thing. 😀

How would you design the ultimate makeup bag?

I still would prefer to have a small makeup bag that has a lot of compartments that can carry and hold everything in place. Transparent compartments and anti-leak would be nice too. As for my favorite designer, I am daydreaming that Kate Spade would design my bag because she is the goddess.

What kind of makeup bag do you have?

No fancy bags for me — I usually buy Clinique once or twice a year during free gift season, and tote that bag around until the next one rolls around.

How do you pack and organize things in your makeup bag?

I always have NARS eyeliner, NARS stick blush, and a Lancome Juicy Tube in my bag.

At home, I use zinc oxide-based sunscreen everyday, and it leaves a white cast, so it forces me (no matter how tired I am) to put on foundation and concealer at home before I leave for the day. So I don’t carry that around with me.

I also get my eyelashes professionally done every 2-3 weeks, so I don’t need mascara anymore, either. Just those three products — eyeliner, blush, and lip gloss — tend to get me through the day.

How would you design the ultimate makeup bag?

Simple is better for me when it comes to makeup bags. Smaller, simpler, and easier to access everything.

What kind of makeup bag do you have?

My current make-up bag is by a quirky brand called Skinnydip London. It’s from their limited edition Too Faced collaboration range and it’s see-through so I can see straight away what products I’ve packed inside it. It saves me time from rummaging around!

How do you pack and organize things in your makeup bag?

For my daily make-up bag which I take to work, I have all my essentials such as eyeshadow, concealer, eyeliner, travel-sized brushes, lipbalm, lipstick and blusher. But for a night out, I tend to over pack. I shove a bunch of random things in there ‘just incase I need it’. That includes several primers, multiple liquid foundations, lots of different lipstick shades (in various formulas and finishes), plus my skincare products too. I like to call it an organised mess!

How would you design the ultimate makeup bag?

Compartments would be nice! I don’t have a make-up bag that has different compartments or even dividers. I’d like to see a vanity case / washbag hybrid!

What kind of makeup bag do you have?

Haha! I don’t use a bag at all. I have too much stuff for that! I use the IKEA Alex drawer system plus various office supplies to hold palettes, brushes, etc.

How do you pack and organize things in your makeup bag?

I think makeup bags are really a breeding ground for bacteria and mess in itself. I use one if I travel but I prefer drawers. If I use a bag, something like the Hold Me Bag.

How would you design the ultimate makeup bag?

It would need to have multiple flaps to protect products from one another, be padded to protect palettes from shattering, having brushes holders and be an easy-to-clean fabric, preferably machine-washable.

What kind of makeup bag do you have?

I have a makeup bag by an up and coming New Zealand based fashion designer Emily Jane which you can purchase through her Etsy shop. As a makeup lover herself, these are designed for those with larger makeup collections and those who want to take a bit more away with them. It’s fully padded inside and long enough and wide enough to fit in bigger palettes and all other makeup, plus your makeup brushes too. I love the prints on them and they are easy to wash in the machine too. I always look out for a bigger makeup bag as I tend to overpack!

How do you pack and organize things in your makeup bag?

I try and pack my makeup while I am actually putting it on my face, so after I do my primer, that goes into the bag, then foundation, concealer etc. As I go through my routine that means that I will never forget to take something! I always throw in a few different lipstick options and a versatile eyeshadow palette that will take me from day to night.

I tend to overpack, but I try and keep it to products I know work for me, this means that while you are away you won’t be worried about how a foundation will wear etc – always take the tried and true products you love!

How would you design the ultimate makeup bag?

I love makeup bags that can be washed or wiped down and don’t stain. Makeup bags that have separate compartments are always handy for keeping everything organised and in order. Padding and protective material is a must – you never know how much it will get thrown around in your suitcase!

What kind of makeup bag do you have?

Mine is definitely a mess so I use snack size sliding zippered plastic bags.

My makeup bag is from Sephora- it was free with purchase of other products ($25+) and I had my choice of designs. It’s black twill with 3 lipsticks printed on it including one lipstick with a striped case in the middle. It’s ok as a makeup bag I wish it had dividers in it or a zip pouch within it so that I could keep my fragrance & mini-mascaras away from lip colors.

How do you pack and organize things in your makeup bag?

I use ziplock bags to keep hairpins & ties in one bag, another for fragrance vials in case they leak, others for eye drops, cotton swabs and aspirin) the rest is loose in the case. I try to pack for contingencies. I like to carry moisturizing sprays for my face.

I edit my case frequently because I invariably pack too many lipsticks. I might have duplicates of things.

How would you design the ultimate makeup bag?

The perfect makeup bag would have smaller zipper compartments plus an outside sleeve so that I could stash my id & keys in one zipper compartment, my phone in the outside sleeve and then lipsticks/gloss/mini mascaras in one pouch, with fragrance and any powder vitamin/supplement in tube format for me to take.

I would LOVE for Armani Beauty to make a makeup case.

I can see it being a gorgeous bronzed or golden alligator or faux suede like fabric. I would love it to be good-sized with other pouches like a mini one for clutch bags. The mini would have lots of interior individual item pockets for lipstick, mascara and swabs to keep everything tidy. Something easy to clean but also gorgeous to see. I am also thinking that the zipper should have a couple of loops to attach keys and charms to it since I have charms/blessed amulets in jade on my current one.

What kind of makeup bag do you have?

SOHO – It has a lot of different pockets for all my different necessities. I adore the fabric and prints it comes in because they are funky and fresh. Every time I take them on vacation, my friends and family always ask about them. I have also gifted several of them because they’re so useful with all the zippers and sections.

How do you pack and organize things in your makeup bag?

I usually have a bag for each type of makeup. For example, I have a bag full of liquid lipsticks, eyeshadow singles, and even one for brushes. I always take too much on vacation because I try to imagine scenarios in which I could wear these favorite lipsticks, eyeshadows, and more. In my bag, there HAS to be chapstick and Chi Silk Infusion because without makeup, those are 2 things I NEED to have.

How would you design the ultimate makeup bag?

My ultimate makeup bag would have hidden pockets, so that I could hide a favorite liquid lipstick, eyeshadow single or palette, and other favorites that I wouldn’t want anyone to see when they open the main zipperThis is important to me because sometimes all my makeup comes spilling out and there are no secrets left, especially when getting ready in front of others, and I do not like to share my cosmetics.

What kind of makeup bag do you have?

Do people have only one makeup bag? I had no idea! I have a small bag from Paul and Joe Cosmetics that is small enough to tuck inside my purse but holds quite a lot. During the day I carry a rollerball of perfume, a favorite lipstick, emery board and maybe an eyeliner. If I’m going out for the evening I will add blush and highlighter to my bag.

How do you pack and organize things in your makeup bag?

I WISH my bag was organized–it’s not. When I travel I carry a travel makeup bag and it is organized: a place for brushes, liquid products and zippered pouches that are waterproof in case something spills.

How would you design the ultimate makeup bag?

I would love a small I could use for every day use that included a place for a few brushes. It needs to be stylish and compact and a little bling couldn’t hurt.

What kind of makeup bag do you have?

I use a drawstring flat makeup bag by Lay-n-Go Cosmo Cosmetics. It unfurls so it’s flat so I can see all of my makeup without having to take it all out of the bag, plus it packs up pretty compactly so it takes up minimal space in my luggage.

How do you pack and organize things in your makeup bag?

I wish I could say everything has its own place, but it is a bit of a mess. The one I have has pockets for brushes and things, but the truth is, it’s all strewn in here.

How would you design the ultimate makeup bag?

This works for me! It’s a washable fabric, so you can just throw it in the laundry, plus it’s big enough for even my gigantic makeup collection I tote with me everywhere.

What kind of makeup bag do you have?

A burgundy leather one by Charlotte Tilbury. It’s a great bag and suits me perfectly – it looks very stylish, is good quality and as it’s leather it is very sturdy and hard wearing. It comes with me on all my travels round the world. It’s a great price too and I would definitely recommend it!

How do you pack and organize things in your makeup bag?

I actually don’t wear that much make-up. I don’t pack my make-up bag in any particular way and as I don’t carry that much in it. Everything I do carry fits in very well.

How would you design the ultimate makeup bag?

I love what I have – it’s leather, fits easily into my handbag, it’s not too big nor too small. I don’t think a make-up bag needs to be over complicated with extra pockets and compartments etc so this one is perfect for me.

What kind of makeup bag do you have?

My favourite is Decleor makeup bag, that I actually received as a gift with my Decleor order. I have had that bag over 5 years now. I like its simple design and it has just the perfect size to keep all my important beauty & makeup essentilans while travelling. I guess the bad thing about it, is that it doesn’t have any extra compartments or pockets.

How do you pack and organize things in your makeup bag?

Since my makeup bag doesn’t have those nifty pockets, then there’s pretty much a mess in my makeup bag. Although, I usually put a smaller makeup bag inside the bigger one, organize smaller items.

How would you design the ultimate makeup bag?

My perfect makeup bag would be made of eco-friendly materials that you can easily clean if they get dirty. The bag should also be waterproof, so if something in my makeup bag leaks, the mess would stay inside the bag. The size of the makeup bag should be probably on the bigger side, not exactly huge, but big enough for some travel sized hair, body and skin care items and makeup products. I would love if the makeup bag had pockets to organize my beauty products and also a brush organizer. I would be super excited if the bag was designed by Michael Kors. I love Michael Kors bags and so that would be a dream come true for me.

What kind of makeup bag do you have?

I have so many makeup bags to fit my needs. I have a Charlotte Tilbury bag for my evening makeup, and I have a Dior bag for my day to day essentials. I like the Charlotte Tilbury bag because it’s clear and I can see all my products. They are all within easy reach. I’ve had my Dior bag for years now and it’s quite spacious and fits a lot of items.

For me, a day to day bag needs to have a lot of room and my evening makeup bag much smaller in comparison.

How do you pack and organize things in your makeup bag?

I usually just throw things into my bag. I start off being so organised and by the end of the day, my bag is a mess due to touch ups during the day. My makeup gets used a lot throughout the day and it’s very difficult to keep it tidy as I’m always on the go!

How would you design the ultimate makeup bag?

My perfect makeup bag would be clear, come with a mirror and extremely spacious. I prefer the clear plastic material and a little mirror would be ideal.

What kind of makeup bag do you have?

I have a Ted Baker one that I carry around with me daily, it’s a medium-sized makeup bag that that is perfect for everyday use that allows me to carry around the everyday essentials, and add a few other bits if I wish.

I love the size of it as it doesn’t take over my handbag, but if you’re someone who likes to organise your products within pockets, then there are no separators or anything like that. It’s perfect for on the go, and looks super pretty too.

How do you pack and organize things in your makeup bag?

I don’t really organise things in my makeup bag in a particular way, but that’s probably due to the lack of separators as I mentioned in the last question. As to deciding what to pack, I don’t tend to have everything on me to complete a whole face of makeup, but instead, just the essentials, such as literally a million lip products, a face powder and a hand cream. I definitely have too many lip products but I like to have a couple of lip balms on me at all times, and then a multitude of lipsticks to provide me with a choice depending on what I fancy.

How would you design the ultimate makeup bag?

I would actually probably design two ultimate makeup bags with a similar layout in both of them, but a larger one for when I go on holidays and a small to medium size makeup bag for everyday use. I can imagine the bag splitting into two which opens flat if that makes sense and various departments on each side.

I’d love one side to simply just be a zipped one section to allow space for makeup brushes, whilst the other side split into three or four sections so I can split up various products within these. I would then use a pretty material in a pretty design to finish the bag off, perhaps in a design along the lines of the Ted Baker ones I love so much.

What kind of makeup bag do you have?

My make-up bag is by My Kit Co. and it’s brilliant because it’s see-through, so I don’t end up trying to find things for ages. It’s also a winner for me because of the shape – rectangular, and not too deep.

How do you pack and organize things in your makeup bag?

My make-up doesn’t live in a make-up bag, so to speak. I only use one for the make-up I bring in my handbag, or when I travel. It’s therefore pretty neat because I empty it out quite often. I’d recommend a weekly or monthly make-up bag detox – wash the interior, sharpen anything that needs sharpening, update colours. In terms of what I can’t do without, I always keep the following in my make-up stash in my handbag: a foundation/concealer stick, a mascara, good lipstick (usually by Charlotte Tilbury or by YSL), lipgloss (currently by Glossier), and a brow product (I like a pencil with a spool – Tom Ford make great ones).

How would you design the ultimate makeup bag?

I like my current make-up bag, but think people always get brush sections wrong and would love to see a bag with an area that could contain my usual brushes on the go.

What kind of makeup bag do you have?

Quite funny actually, my current makeup bag is actually a clutch bag that was inside a ‘tote’ bag I previously bought. It was such a good size and good leather, it was great for my larger makeup items.

My smaller makeup bag, is currently a small pouch that I bought from boots, which has a lipstick emblem on it. It is cream canvas material, so I would not recommend.

However, I have a friend in NYC staking out Sephora, as they do the coolest see through pouch style makeup bag, which is perfect for someone like me, who travels a great deal :).

How do you pack and organize things in your makeup bag?

I usually pack too much in my larger makeup bag, I tend to cram as much as I can in, as I never know what I need on the go when travelling.

My smaller makeup bag consists of Carmex, lip products, eye drops, my trusty bronzer (I have 5000), concealor, a nail file & tweezers.

How would you design the ultimate makeup bag?

I would design a two step system.

A larger makeup bag for your bigger items, that you need to pack when travelling, it would have 3 compartments, one for lipsticks, one for face products and one for eye products. The rest can get evenly distributed within those themes.

A smaller makeup bag for your must need, daily items for your handbag.

Design wise, it would be sleek, cute and stylish!
