Climbing Zine

This pack will stay in the “hopper”. I’ll be using it when the rack is light, and convenience is key. The “feel” of it is great, the back padding is comfortable, and the wireframe disperses the loads properly. Bring the Mayhem 45 for the casual cragging and travel, but leave it home when you’re bringing everything but the kitchen sink to the wall.

Dirtbag Dreams

The Mayhem may well have taken its place as my favorite pack for single pitch days when a full rack of gear needs to be carried out to the farther routes in Eldorado Canyon, as well for backpacking, snow-shoeing, and camping in the backcountry.

The Mountainsmith Mayhem 35+ is an impressive backpack that can multitask at just about anything. Its comfortable fit, range of features and light weight are all strong selling points, not to mention its surprisingly low cost of $139.
