Overall the packs are super comfortable, lightweight and hi-tech with enough bells and whistles (there is literally one on the sternum strap buckle) to do everything you want without going overboard into some complex chaos of buckles, loops, straps, pockets and zips that some packs fall into.

It is the perfect size for a one- or two-night trip. The pack is tough and durable and the front-loading feature and various storage compartments make packing and unpacking a breeze. The detachable day pack is super handy for day hikes from camp.

I love how the Farpoint 55 distributes the packing weight along your back. With the chest and waist straps properly closed, I often hardly notice it’s there.

Osprey Farpoint vs Kelty Redwing

Kelty Redwing
Kelty Redwing
Rating 4.6 based on 1,809 reviews
Sometimes you want the best of both worlds. The Kelty Redwing has qualities suited for travel and outdoors exploration. You can pack as much as you need for whatever trip you're planning next.

The Osprey Farpoint is great for travel with its many accommodating pockets and compartments. You can fit your electronics and laptop in the Farpoint without any problem, but the Farpoint is not suited for outdoors activity at all.

Only buy it if you are going to travel somewhere your electronics will be needed. Buy the Kelty Redwing if you want to something more athletic.

Osprey Farpoint vs Osprey Porter

Osprey Porter
Osprey Porter
Rating 4.7 based on 1,247 reviews
Both the Farpoint and Porter series of Osprey packs are award-winning travel bags. They look similar - the above average day pack for carrying your trip gear and other essentials.

The Farpoint is quite a lightweight backpack with harness available in two torso lengths. It also has a lightwire harness suspension, padding on the hipbelt and shoulder straps. The bag is well ventilated and has an inner mesh pocket for better organization of gear.

Osprey Porter backpack combines superior features to make a bigger but a little heavier travel backpack that has attributes of a day pack. The collective look of this backpack is that of a gear hauler or duffle bag. You’ll see that the harness system is quite simple and has no frame or height adjustment. There is no hip belt padding either, telling you that it's not meant to be worn for long periods.

Osprey Farpoint vs Osprey Waypoint

Osprey Waypoint
Osprey Waypoint
Rating 4.6 based on 33 reviews
The two backpacks are made of Nylon and have two padded external carry handles (on the top and side).

The Waypoint pack is more comfortable than the Farpoint series of Osprey backpacks. Waypoint's harness system provides more support and padding in the straps and hip belt so that you are more comfortable when carrying your load. However, unlike the Farpoint packs, a shoulder strap is not included in the package.

Another difference between the two packs is that Osprey Waypoint features a fully-adjustable gender specific harness and hip belt. The harness on the Farpoint pack is not gender specific.

The Farpoint bags are available in two sizes while the new models of Waypoint packs are just one size that is adjustable.
